LAKE WALES, Fla. – Smooth pitching of
Jaryd Clary, hot bats of
Cole Parks and
Xanders Vazquez vault the Royals to second victory over NAIA top-25 Webber International.
Pitching duals between
Jaryd Clary and Brady Mintell ensued as the game went scoreless and almost hitless through the first 4 innings. Then the Royals registered a
Jesse Alker single that moved
Cole Parks over to 3
rd.
Junior Fermin hit a sharp liner to short that resulted in a double play however it scored Parks and the Royals took a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the 5
th,
Xanders Vazquez connected with a double down the left field line that scored
Kevin Troncoso giving the Royals a 2-0 lead. In the top of the 6
th the Warriors hit a double then followed it up with a single that scored the runner and cut the lead in half 2-1 in favor of the Royals.
In the bottom of the 7
th the Royals offense came alive. Faced with 2 quick outs,
Cal Sanelli got on with a base hit that would start a rally.
Anthony Martinez followed next with a single advancing Sanelli to 2
nd.
Taylor Briggs came in and ran for the catcher Martinez.
Xanders Vazquez reached the plate again in a big spot and was hit by a pitch loading the bases full of Royals.
Cole Parks stepped in and shot a line drive into left field that scored Sanelli and Briggs. The score would hold out and the Royals took their second game of the year defeating the Warriors 4-2.
