(RV) Royals Use Nick Macon Final Second 3-Pointer To Knock Off Lions

LAKE WALES, Fla. – Nick Macon drains a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left on the clock to beat Florida Memorial 67-66.

GAME RECAP

The Royals and the Lions stayed even through most of the first half. Warner's Khalil Ozuna and Melton Sanders knocked down two jumpers near the end to give the Royals a 6-point lead heading into the half up 33-27.

The Royals came out pumped in the second half as quickly they extended and an Adam Giger basket vaulted them out to a 12-point lead. That lead would dwindle down as the Lions heated up and with 7:15 remaining in the game tied the game at 54-54. A Samuel Schobben 3-pointer and a jumper from Nick Macon would give the Royals a 5-point lead just 2 minutes remaining. With a quick turn of events, it took Florida Memorial 6 seconds to not only ruin but take the lead with under a minute left in the game. The Lions had the lead and what looked to be the possible upset 66-64 in their hands until the ball found its way to the Royals Nick Macon. He pulled up from beyond the arch and the Turner Athletic Center fell dead silent as he drained the shot with 3 seconds left. The TAC erupted in excitement as the Royals delivered the last second blow and came away with a 67-66 win over Florida Memorial.

They quickly shift focus as the head down to Miami Gardens and take on the tough (18) St. Thomas Bobcats. This matchup has been awarded the Sun Conference Game of the Week. When asked about that honor, head coach of the Royals Sean Hanrahan said "competing against a top ranked team like St. Thomas is always a challenge. We have had many games that are decided with the last possession just like tonight. It should be a great college game to watch."
