Royals Football Suffers 6th Straight loss Against Southeastern

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Royals struggled today against the Southeastern University Fire, as they fell to the fire 51-7.

Warner won the opening toss and elected to receive the ball first.

The scoring started early, as Southeastern took a 3-0 lead with just under 8 minutes left in the first quarter.

On the ensuing kickoff, Ralph Hughey returned the kick 94 yards back to the Southeastern 2 yard line. Buddy Edwards finished the job for Warner with a 2 yard touchdown rush to give the Royals the lead 7-3.

Southeastern was cliquing on all cylinders today and made it tough for the Royals to produce much more offensive threats after that. The Royals were once again plagued by fumbles and turned the ball over twice because of fumbles.

The offense never got in a good groove and was never able to establish the strong run game they have leaned on throughout the year.

Drew Clark led the way on defense with 10 total tackles, 6 solo and 4 assist. Andre Tommie led the rushing attack with 4 carries for 47 yards, an 11.5 yard average per rush. Ryan Grow led the team through the air with 2 completions on 6 attempts for 46 yards. Jeffery Jenning led the team in receiving yards with 34.

The team has 4 games left this year, 3 road games and 1 more home game, look for the Royals to regroup and get back to work on Monday.

The team is hopeful to get the monkey off their back and get their first win this upcoming Saturday, October 20 when they travel down to Keiser University to take on the Seahawks at 12 noon.
