Royals Football Falls to (RV) Seahawks In First Ever Meeting

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Warner University continues to struggle on the gridiron as they dropped their seventh straight game. There was a positive uptick in the Royals offense in the first half but that was not enough to stop the Seahawks who took the game at a final score of 27-17.

This was the first ever meeting between both teams on the field of play as it is Keisers inaugural year for their program. The Seahawks are off to a great start now 4-0 in the Mid-South Sun Division. The Royals struggles continue on as they fall to 0-3 in the Mid-South Sun Division.

The Royals got things started off on the right feet of Ralph Hughey who capped off a 6 play 68 yard drive with a 32 yard scamper for a touchdown which is his second of the year. (7-0)

The Seahawks answered with an 8 play 75 yard drive that was finished off with a 28 yard run from Marques Burgess. (7-7)

Michael Young and the Royals drove 9 plays and 54 yards that ended with another Royals touchdown as Young and Theodore Hammonds connected for a 4 yard pass and a touchdown giving Hammonds his second TD of the season. (14-7)

Justin Dalton knocked through a 30 yard field goal making him 6-8 on the season. Meanwhile, Dalton continues his reign in the #1 spot for the NAIA as he is a perfect 14-14 in PAT's. (17-7)

The Seahawks went on to score 20 straight unanswered points in the last 10 minutes of the second quarter taking a 27-17 lead.
Both teams chipped in defensively and neither team for the scoreboard in the second half.

The Royals were led by Michael Young as he completed 16 of 23 passes for 189 yards, 1 TD and 3 interceptions.

Jemerh Cosby led the rushing game with 60 net yards averaging 6 yards a carry. He split attempts with Deontae Bradley who rushed 14 times for 55 yards averaging 3.9 yards a carry. Ralph Hughey only received two rushes but took one of them 32 yards and into the endzone for his second TD of the season.

Jeffrey Suarez and Theodore Hammonds had massive days both catching 6 passes a piece, Suraez with 98 yards and Hammonds with 93 yards and a TD.

The Royals defensive line had a great day on the field registering 3 sacks, 4 pass breakups, a fumble recovery for 20 yards, and blocking a PAT late in the first half. Drew Clark picked up his 4th sack of the season and also his 12th tackled for a loss now forcing 61 yards lost for opponents.

The Royals fell to the Seahawks 17-27 and now sit at 0-7 on the season with a 0-3 MSC record.

Next week they host the Crooked Lake Rivals Webber International University for the last home game for the Royals. That game is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Lakeland Christian High School.
