Royals Football Take Home Lake Caloosa Clash Trophy With Senior Day Upset Over Rivals Webber

LAKE WALES, Fla. – It was senior day for the Warner Royals football team and cheerleaders, homecoming for Warner University, Lake Caloosa Clash with Warner vs. Webber football and Rod Shafer announced his retirement. The Royals upset the Warriors19-7 for their first win of the season, first Mid-South Sun Division win and a big win for Shafer.

It will be a day to remember for the Warner University Royals as they bring home the Lake Caloosa Clash trophy. With a big 19-7 win, the Royals improve to 1-7 overall and snag their first Mid-South Sun Division win moving to 1-3.

Rod Shafer, Royals head coach, announced his retirement and suited up for the last time at home as coach of the Royals.

The Royals struck first in the first quarter when Justin Dalton nailed a 33 yard field goal through the uprights giving the Royals a 3-0 lead.

The Royals got on the board again in the second quarter when Justin Dalton again hit a chip shot 21 yard field goal for a Royals 6-0 lead.

Capping off a 10 play, 37 yard drive, Royals quarterback Michael Young leaped over the line for a 1 yard dive into the end zone giving the Royals a 13-0 lead following a Dalton extra point made.

With 00:23 left on the clock before halftime,  Justin Dalton lined up again and knocked in another 33 yard field goal giving the Royals a commanding 16-0 lead going into the half.

The Warriors finally got on the board at the start of the third quarter when Davonte Williams punched it in from 8 yards on the ground. Marcus Mannerstedt knocked in the extra point making it a 16-7 Royals lead.

With the clock under 2 minutes left in the game, Justin Dalton hit another field goal, this time from 30 yards out and the Royals would take the eventual win 19-7 over the Warriors.


Justin Dalton made his 10th field goal of the season. He remains perfect in extra point attempts with 15 for 15. He currently holds six Top-50 rankings in the NAIA…

The Royals put up 182 rushing yards rushing with 1 rushing touchdown. But the big story was the Warner defense that stood up a Webber International rushing attack that averages 212 rushing a game and held them to just 97 yards. Deontae Bradley led the attack on the ground for the Royals with 68 yards. Three Royals had 50+ rushing yards.

Jefferey Jennings had 6 catches that totaled 74 yards including a haul for 37 yards.

Drew Clark celebrated his senior day with 5 tackles giving him 38 on the season and also another half a sack for 4.5 sacks on the year. He currently holds three Top NAIA Rankings…
