Lady Royals Struggle to Close Out Come-From-Behind Rally on Senior Day

LAKE WALES – FLA.  The Warner University Women's Volleyball Team went head to head with rival Southeastern University in a home match this afternoon.

It was Senior Day for the Royals, as they celebrated the collegiate careers of 6 seniors: Andrea Lorenz, Vanessa Boitnott, Marissa Intoppa, Raygen Lee, Breeanna Navarro, and Ashley Kube.

Unfortunately, despite a huge hometown crowd and explosive playing, The Royals could not muster up a win even though they were able to take the Fire to a 5 set match.

Sets one and two fell in favor of the Fire, by scores of 25-19, and 25-23. During these two sets, there were no tied scores, and no lead changes as Southeastern was able to run away with their leads.

Sets three went decisively to the Royals as they took this set by a score of 25-15.

Set four was more hard-fought for Warner, even though they took this one 25-20. This set saw the score tied 13 times, and the lead was changed twice. The Lady Royals had a hitting percentage of .349, as they had 17 kills in 43 total attacks with only two errors.

This sent the game into a fifth and final set that went back and forth but fell in favor of the Fire. Breeanna Navarro was knocked out of the game for getting a red card with the head referee, and Southeastern took advantage of this momentum as they reached the 15 point mark and thus ended the game.

The Lady Royals compiled 60 kills, with Breeanna Navarro and Alexandra Gonzalez at the helm, each contributing 15. Seniors Andrea Lorenz, and Ashley Kube walked away with 25 and 14 total digs respectively. Another senior Raygen Lee put up 25 assists, while Vanessa Boitnott blocked the ball twice. The final senior for The Royals, Marissa Intoppa added 9 kills with 21 attacks.

This was the last home game for The Royals this season, and they will be back in action again on November 3rd at 2:00 PM in Miami Gardens against the Saint Thomas University Bobcats.
