WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Warner Royals used 5 players with double digit points and a
Denzell Osson double-double with 12 points and 10 assists to a 81-79 victory over the (19) Keiser University Seahawks.
The two teams met previously in the year with Warner as the host and the game went into double overtime before the Seahawks earned the victory. Tonight the script was flipped as the Royals clawed into the Keiser Student Life Center and stole senior night game away from the Seahawks. It was a great game for both teams that have been consistently ranked in the NAIA top 25 this season.
The Royals were able to capitalize on turnovers in the first half scoring 14 points off the Seahawks mistakes. The first half saw 8 lead changes with the Royals eventually closing out the half ahead by 1, 46-45.
Melton Sanders got off to a hot first half with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and a takeaway.
Khalil Ozuna followed closely with 10 points of his own and 6 rebounds while adding a block defensively.
The second half proved to be just as exciting and close as the first half. The lead changed hands 4 times and with the clock running down to just 01:35 left in the game,
Jalen Williams nailed a 3-pointer from beyond the arch and had no idea that it would be the eventual game winner. Both teams played close basketball but both would fail at adding to the scoreboard as the Royals fended off the Seahawks at home on their senior night and came away with the 81-79 victory.
The Royals used most of the team to achieve the win tonight as 5 players put up double digit scores.
Melton Sanders (19),
Adam Giger (17),
Khalil Ozuna (15),
Denzell Osson (12),
Jalen Williams (11). It was Denzell that stole the overall show with a double-double of 12 points, 10 assists, 3 steals and 1 rebound.
The Royals will finish out the regular season and TSC play this Saturday against Johnson & Wales University. The Sun Conference still has a lot of room for movement and the tournament seeds could be heavily impacted with Saturday's schedule. Here are the current standings in The Sun Conference…
