Evangeline Futch throw combined no hitter solidifying them into Warner softball history books.
The Royals started strong in the 1
st inning.
Cortney Bunker walked her first at bat, followed by
Chantal Crockett reaching on an error where she was able to advance to second and Bunker to third. The play was followed by a pop up and strike out, but
Avery Cotterill on her at bat was able to find a hole in left field to score Bunker and Crockett. Sharp defense and stellar pitching by the Royals continued throughout the entire game. In the top of the 3
rd, Crockett singled up the middle, and coming up behind her
Sara Bruno launched a hit to deep center field scoring Crockett and gaining a double for herself making the game 3-0. The bats were silent up until the top of the 6
th where things were started off with another Cotterill hit that was a hot shot double to left field. Behind her
Megan Hammett crushed a double as well scoring Cotterill. A pitch in the dirt allowed Hammett to steal third putting her in scoring position.
Kayla Bruno shot out a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Hammett. The bats didn't stop there. The Royals tacked on one more run in the top of the 7
th; Mackenzye Bobb singled to third base. A pitch in the dirt allowed Bobb to steal second, and a throwing error allowed her to advance to third. Bunker came up and hit a line drive single to left field scoring Bobb. Bunker was able to advance to second due to Crockett flying out to left field.
The Lady Royals pitching staff stole the night surrendering no hits, 2 hit by pitches, 1 walk, and a reach by error.
Jordan Lewis threw for 5 innings, with 1 walk, 6 strike outs, and 1 hit by pitch. Then
Evangeline Futch preserved the no hitter throwing 2 innings to close out the game and give the Royals the win.
