CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. – The No. 1 Warner University Royals are advancing through the Conference tournament to the Finals. They received a first round bye following an undefeated Conference record of 12-0. After beating No. 5 Webber International, the No. 4 Campbellsville University Tigers fell to the Royals in 4 sets, 3-1.
The Royals ripped through the Tigers only stumbling in set 2. Improving to 17-2 on the season and advancing to the Finals, the Royals defeated the Tigers 25-23, 15-25, 25-15, 25-18.
Alexander Lazo,
Jordan Barreto and
Andrew Holman had 7 kills apiece.
It was
Manuel Panchame that stole the show tying his season high for the most kills in a match. He had 24 attempts coming away with 14 kills and only hitting three errors finishing with an astounding .458 hitting percentage. On top of that he added three serving aces.
Andrew Holman added 3 digs and 6 blocks on the day leading the way defensively.
John Montalvo- Camacho and
Neil Werzer supplemented the defense with 7 digs apiece in the match. It was Werzer that took charge of the setup man adding 36 assists on the day.
The Royals improve to 17-2 on the year and continue their way to being the best Men's Volleyball team in Warner history.
They have a very tough matchup in the Finals facing off against the No. 2 seed St. Andrews University. The Royals have taken both matchups against the Knights in regular season play leading the series 6-2 in sets. St. Andrews finished out the season in Conference play only falling to Warner twice with a 10-2 record. The Finals will be played tomorrow at 11:00 AM at Campbellsville.
