LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Lady Royals opened up their 2018 season at Royals Field against #17 The Masters University (TMU). The match was a defensive battle that left both sides searching for rhythm on offensive throughout both halves but in the end TMU was able to score a goal late in the second half and came away with the victory 1-0.
Warner battled hard in the first half against the Top 25 team, keeping the Mustangs and their coach on edge and ended the half tied 0-0. On the offensive side of the ball the Royals never seemed to get in a groove but still managed to control the ball well and continued to play good defense, with goalie
Sarah Bergkvist racking up 7 saves on the night. After the game head coach
Payton Chitwood stated he was, "impressed with the girls effort and attention to detail on and off the field tonight against the tough opponent."
Despite the loss the team can take many positive things away from the match and look to bounce back this Thursday, August 23, against the Point University Skyhawks at Royals Field at 7:00 pm.
