Royals Fall in 5 Set Heart Breaker to Crooked Lake Rivals

LAKE WALES – FLA. Last night the Warner University Women's Volleyball team took on their conference rivals from across the lake, the Webber international University Warriors. In a five set thriller, the Royals fell just short of their third straight conference win, and unfortunately recorded their first conference loss of the season.

The first two sets of the game fell in favor of the Warriors, as the Royals just could not reach 25 points first, instead recording scores of 22-25 and 23-25. During the third set, the Lady Royals fired back with intensity and outscored Webber 25-17, and again in the fourth set 25-20. However, there just was not enough gas left in the tank as Warner dropped the 5th set by a score of 5-15.

Offensively, the Royals recorded 53 kills, as Breeanna Navarro and Sydney Ackermann led this movement with 14 and 12 kills respectively. Alexandra Gonzalez also hit double digits as she also contributed 10 total kills. Defensively, Andrea Lorenz is having a stellar season and performed yet again last night with 31 digs. Senior Raygen Lee and freshman Bailee Mack each contributed 19 assists for the Royals. Also, Cheyenne Miller was big at the net with 2 blocks on the night out of the 4 total blocks recorded on the night for Warner.

Webber still sits atop this rivalry, now 17-8 against the Lady Royals in the past 10 years of rich competition between these two schools.

Warner will play again at home on Saturday September 22 at 2:00 PM, against the Florida Memorial University Lions in another conference matchup.
