Lady Royals Extend Winning Streak To 6 With 2-1 Win Over Conference Foe St. Thomas

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Lady Royals soccer team continues their winning ways and extends their winning streak to 6 straight after defeating the St. Thomas University Bobcats 2-1 last night. The Women have not lost since August 23rd and have an amazing streak of 8 straight games without a loss.

The Royals seemed to struggle on offense last night in the first half as the team only had 2 shots in the entire half, however, despite the lack of shots, the Lady Royals made sure to make them count as they scored a late goal in the first half off a #21 Lexi Garcia header; Garcia was assisted by #17 Emma Marshall.

This is Lexi Garcia's 3rd goal of the year, along with Emma Marshall's 2nd assist.

Lady Royals would enter half time with a 1-0 lead.

The second half started with the Royals star mid-fielder, #10 Samanntha Warren, doing what she does best for the Royals, scoring a goal.

In the 57th minute Warren broke away from the Bobcat defense after receiving a nice pass from #2 Kristen Isabelle and was able to knock in the Royals 2nd goal of the game and her 9th goal of the season.

The Bobcats would answer back with a goal of their own in the 80th minute, bringing the score to 2-1 in favor of the Royals.

Despite outshooting the Lady Royals 14 to 4 on the night the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net more than once and fell to the Royals 2-1.

Royal's goalie #1 Sarah Bergkvist deserves her share of the credit for the win as she notched 9 saved in the game and helped her team come away with the big road win.

The Lady Royals are now 4-0 in conference play and sit atop the Sun Conference; they also have an overall record of 7-2-1 for the year.
