LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner University Royals Baseball is primed and ready for the 2019 season opener. What better way to start then opening with the Crooked Lake Rivalry against Webber International.
For the second straight season the Royals and Warriors open up play to kick off regular season. Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., the season opening pitch will be thrown at Webber International University. On Saturday at 12:00 p.m., Warner opens up their 2019 home schedule finishing out the back to back non-conference games with the Warriors.
The Royals are led by Head Coach
Jeff Sikes. Coach Sikes is heading into his 36
thseason as the Royals head coach and has won 1,040 games with the Royals in his coaching career. Sikes is assisted by
David Moskovits,
Aaron Kehres,
Blaine Rhea and
Jeff Stabe.
Warner begins the season with 9 seniors on their roster with seven returners from 2018(*):
A LOOK BACK AT 2018
The Royals finished the 2018 season with an overall record of 34-26 and as the NCCAA National Champion Runner-Ups. Warner competes in a very strong Sun Conference which actually boasts the 2018 NAIA National Champions, Southeastern University. In The Sun Conference the Royals stumbled during the regular season with a 7-17 overall record.
Despite falling in the National Championship game, the Royals team batting average was just shy of .300, posting a .299 average.
