Warner Football – Royals Aerial Attack Takes Flight, Narrowly Misses Upset Over No. 19 Seahawks

LAKELAND, Fla. – A 23-14 Royals lead at halftime was not enough to stop the No. 19 Seahawks as they added nearly 500 offensive yards.

The No. 19 Keiser University Seahawks struck first early in the first quarter with a touchdown pass from Matthews to Walls.

The Royals answered with a 32-yard boot from Tovar Santiago that was through the uprights and good. (3-7)

The Royals became just the second team the Seahawks have faced this season to carry a lead at any point in time during the game. They achieved that by Dylan Blair and Keon Brown connecting with a big 48-yard pass capping off a 3 play 54-yard drive. (9-7)

5 minutes later, Jeffery Jennings III and Dylan Blair again connected on another 40+ yard pass with a 44-yard touchdown. The lone answer for Keiser in the second quarter was a 12-yard scamper by Matthews into the end zone. (16-14)

The Royals built on their lead and the eventual halftime score with a 3-yard pass from Dylan Blair to Andre Tommie for a touchdown. (23-14) (Tovar Santiago Extra Point Good)

Things changed quickly in the second half when Marques Burgess broke loose twice on back-to-back drives for a 53-yard and 54-yard scramble into the redzone. (23-35)

The Royals would fall to the Seahawks by a final score of 23-42.

Javon Wilson notched his third 100+ yard rushing game this season having rushed for over 100-yards against at the time, No. 16 Bethel, No. 12 Lindsey Wilson and now #19 Keiser. He finished the game with 23 rushing attempts and 105 rushing yards.

Dylan Blair let the ball fly completing 17 passes for 318-yards and 3 TD's.

Keon Brown and Jeffery Jennings III had a massive game on the receiving front. Brown finished the game with 4 catches for 124-yards and a TD. Jennings III with 7 catches for 119 yards a TD.

Defensively, Jonathan Jones finished the day with 11 tackles and an interception returned for 25-yards. Kama Jackson finished with 10 tackles on the day.

The Royals fall to 1-4 on the season and will now take a brief break as they face Faulkner University next Friday at 5:00 p.m.
