Warner Women’s Soccer – Royals And Bees End In TSC Overtime Thriller

LAKE WALES, Fla.- It was a great game for Warner University against SCAD University at Royals field. Unfortunately, it wasn't the outcome the Royals where looking for.

SCAD strung together seven consecutive wins against Warner until last year when the Royals broke that streak with a win at the Bees home field.

Kirstin Campbell gave the Royals the lead in the 5th minute of the 1st half striking the back of the net and taking advantage early putting pressure on the Bees. This was Campbells first goal of the season and was assisted by Rachel DeWeerd.

In the middle of the 1st half Natalia Zapata on the Bees had a solo shot up the middle tying the game 1-1. The Bees in the 28th minute scored again by Hannah Amidon, ending the 1st half with the Royals trailing by one.

In the second half the Royals struck in the 57th minute. Lexi Garcia scored her first goal of the season. Garcia subbed in midway through the second half and within the first two minutes she made her shot count in the back of the net.

Both teams played an aggressive game offensively and defensively keeping the fans on the front of their seats as the 2nd half ended with a tie bringing the game into overtime.

There was a heart wrenching moment throughout the stadium when Sam Manelis on the Bees had a sliding shot in the 94th minute making the goal giving the Bees the 3-2 victory over the Royals.

Goalie Mackenzie Spurling for the Royals had 6 saves on the night.

It was the Royals second conference loss, leaving them 0-2 in conference and falling to 1-7 overall.

The Royals will play rival Webber University at their field in Babson Park on Saturday, October 5th at 10:00 a.m.
