LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner Women's Basketball started off the 2019-20 season in front of a big home opening Royals crowd and came away with the 44-30 victory.
Warner University and Johnson University had only met one time on the court in the two schools history. It was the Royals that came away with the 62-57 victory in November of 2018.Â
The Royals move the overall series to 2-0 with the victory tonight inside of the Turner Athletic Center.Â
Kyra Champagne led the Royals offensively with 8-pts, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
D'Asia James followed closely with 7-pts. More impressively, James added 4 steals, 11 rebounds and 1 block.
The Royal amassed 5 blocks in the game defensively that turned into a big key to tonight's win.
Troi Grant added a team high 5 steals align with 5-pts and 7 boards.Â
With their season opener and home opener, the Royals improve to 1-0 and will take their game on the road to an always tough Edward Waters in Jacksonville on November 5th.Â
