Warner Men’s Basketball - #16 Royals Hit Road Block Falling To Bobcats

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Royals are 12-0 on their home court in the season, but the road games spell a different story. The Royals stumbled against St. Thomas University 73-70.

The road woes continue for the Royals who have fallen eight times on the season and all eight losses have occurred on the road. Warner continues to be one of the toughest teams in the nation to beat on their home court. They've posted a perfect 12-0 record this season at home and have two more regular season contests to play at home yet.

The Royals, now NAIA DII #16, have already clinched a postseason spot in The Sun Conference Tournament and were the first team to do so. Despite falling to the Bobcats, the Royals received some help from an unexpected upset last night where Coastal Georgia defeated the NAIA DII #20 Southeastern Fire in the Furnace 91-87. With the help from the Mariners, the Royals hold first place in The Sun Conference at 12-3. #20 Southeastern moves to 11-4 and (RV) Ave Maria advanced past Thomas moving them into one game striking distance of the Fire with a 10-5 TSC record.

The Royals fell to the Bobcats 73-70 despite shooting 54% from the field.

Jalen Williams posted his Royals career high and season high 23-points, shooting 8-12 from the field including making 5-8 shots from beyond the arch.

Only two other Royals reached double digits last night, Darryl Mercer Jr. added 13-points while Trae Graham put up 12-points.

Warner will now prepare for the quick turnaround where they play host to the Florida Memorial Lions Saturday February 9th, 2019 at 4:00 p.m.
