BLUFFTON, SC. – Warner, led by their Super Bash Bros duo of Xanders &
Alex Vazquez, swept day 1 of their 3 game series vs the USCB Sand Sharks, winning game 1 11-7 and winning game 2 9-7.
The Royals hit .338 as a team in both games today, scoring 20 runs total with 11 extra base hits.
Warner is now 25-9 on the year with a 6-2 conference record, currently tied for 2
nd place with St. Thomas in the TSC.
The Sand Sharks are now 11-17 overall with a 2-9 conference record.

The Vazquez duo accounted for nearly half of Warner's total run production on the day and tallied 6 extra base hits between the 2 of them. Safe to say the Royals have found their own version of the M & M boys (Mantle & Marris) in these 2 athletes.

Game 1
Michael Batten grabbed his 3
rd win of the year for the Royals (3-1) pitching 5 innings, giving up 2 runs and striking out 6 before being relieved by
Kody Smith, who finished things out pitching 4 innings and cementing the Royals 11-7 victory.
Warner tallied 7 extra base hits in game 1, 8/9 batters had a base hit and all 9 batters managed to reach base safely at least once.
Rafael Astacio led the team with 3 RBI's, while
Alex Vazquez led the team in runs scored with 3.
The Royals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 2
nd inning; the Sand Sharks tied things up 2-2 in the bottom half of the 2
nd. Warner regained the lead, scoring 2 more in the top of the 3
rd and lead 4-2 all the way up the top of the 6
th.
Warner erupted for 6 runs in the 6
th inning, extending their lead to 10-2; USCB continued to fight and tried to close the gap but were unable to overcome the 8 run deficit despite scoring in the 6
th, 8
th and 9
th innings.
Game 2
Jaryd Clary earned his 6
th win of the year for Warner (6-0) pitching 5 2/3 this afternoon, striking out 3 before being relieved by
Jake Leiffer who held firm for 2 1/3 innings before
Ryan Klingler came in and earned his 1
st save of the year in the 9-7 triumph over USCB.
The Vazquez duo was at it again in game 2, tallying 6 hits, 3 extra base hits and 5 RBI's in the win.
Xanders Vazquez led the team with 4 hits and also tallied another double and triple in route to his player of the day honor.
Alex Vazquez, already with 1 homerun on the day, added another homerun to his season total and continues to drive in the RBI's as he is ranked #1 in all of the NAIA in RBI's this year.
Warner commanded this game from start to finish despite a valiant effort from the Sand Sharks to make a comeback.
The game was tied 3-3 after the 3
rd inning but Warner added 3 more to their total in the top of the 4
th off a
Xanders Vazquez triple that allowed
Alfred Brown and
Josh Strickland to score then a
Rafael Astacio single that brought Xanders around to score.
The Royals added another run in the 5
th inning to extend the lead to 7-3.
USCB answered back in the 6
th inning with 2 runs of their own to get within 2.
Warner got those 2 runs back in the top of the 8
th when
Xanders Vazquez scored on a pass ball and
Alex Vazquez hit a SAC fly to center field to drive in
Rafael Astacio, the 9
th of the game for the Royals.
The Sand Sharks clapped back with 2 more runs in the bottom of the 8
th inning but were left bewildered when Warner brought in
Ryan Klingler in the bottom of the 9
th to shut the door on the day.
Excellent team baseball from the Royals today and expect more tomorrow as they attempt to sweep the Sand Sharks and move one step closer to SEU and 1
st place in the TSC.
