Lake Wales, Fla. – The Royals softball team took a clean shutout in both games this afternoon.
Sylvia Welsh threw a complete game 1-hitter. Olinger and Rodriguez combine for 1-hitter.
Game 1 – WU 3, CCSJ 0
The Royals offense pushed across 3-runs in the 4
thinning and that's all it took.
Sylvia Welsh slammed the door shut in the circle only giving up 1-hit spread out over 7-innings worth of work. Welsh tallied 8-strikeouts by the end of her 3
rdfull inning pitching. Welsh then recorded 4 more strikeouts to finish her day with a 12-strikeout effort.
Game 2 – WU 7, CCSJ 0
The Royals offense erupted with a 7-run effort off 8-hits in game two.
Kayleigh Walters was a solid 3 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored.
Breyonna Shell and
Kasey Heslin both added a two hit outing. Heslin was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI's from the leadoff spot.
Brooke Olinger was the starting pitcher for the Royals and earned the win. She threw 3 innings only surrendering 1 hit and striking out 3 giving up no runs.
Tatiana Rodriguez earned her first save of the season throwing 4 innings in relief surrendering no hits and striking out 2 with no runs scored.
