Ashton Owen and
Breyonna Shell shine at the plate while Warner splits double header with Keiser.
GAME 1 – WU 7, KU 1
The Seahawks came out swinging in the top of the 1
stinning scoring off a Miller single that pushed in Test.
Leading off the bottom of the 1
stfor the Royals was freshman
Ashton Owen. Owen tripled to right center off the first pitch of the game. Two batters later,
Breyonna Shell stepped in and turned on a ball firing it down the right field line for a triple that scored Owen.
In the bottom of the 2
ndinning,
Caitlyn Yockey stood at second base,
Kayleigh Walters dropped a bunt down that was misplayed by the Seahawks pitcher and ultimately allowed Yockey to score. Later in the inning, with runners on second and third and two-outs,
Kasey Heslin added 2 RBI's by hitting a sharp liner to center field that scored Owen and Walters.
The Royals picked up their last three runs off of the bat of
Breyonna Shell as she hit her 2
ndtriple of the game with bases loaded scoring
Ashton Owen,
Kayleigh Walters and
Megan Garfinkel.
Ashton Owen belted four softballs for a triple and 3-singles going 4-4 at the plate and scoring 3-times for the Royals.
Breyonna Shell was in the right spot to answer Owen as Shell was 2-4 at the plate with 2-triples and 4-RBI's.
Kayleigh Walters, though 0-2 at the plate, finished with 1-walk, 1-RBI and 2-runs scored.
Brooke Olinger threw a complete 7-innings holding the Seahawks to just 4-hits and 1-run. With the win Olinger improves to a team leading 6-1 on the season.
GAME 2 – WU 2, KU 5
It was a scoreless game with just a couple hits registered by each team until the top of the 5
thinning. The Seahawks struck first again as Miller reached on an error allowing Northway to score.
In the top of the 7
th, the Seahawks added 4-more runs. Miller again spoke her name by hitting a bases clearing double scoring Test, Northway and Carver. Ostrander then doubled to right center switching places with Miller and giving the Seahawks a 5-0 lead.
In the bottom of the 7
thinning,
Caitlyn Yockey singled up the middle with 1-out. With 2-outs,
Megan Garfinkel also singled up the middle advancing Yockey to second.
Kayleigh Walters hit a grounder to third but with a burst of speed was able to beat the throw for an infield single to load the bases.
Ashton Owen reached on an error by the Seahawks pitcher that scored Yockey.
Kasey Heslin then reached on an infield single that scored Garfinkel. The Seahawks were able to close out the inning stranding the Royals comeback with bases loaded.
Ashton Owen went 2-4 at the plate making her 6-8 on the day with 5-singles and a triple.
Kasey Heslin finished game two with a 2-4 outing and an RBI.
Caitlyn Yockey,
Megan Garfinkel and
Kayleigh Walters all registered a hit. Unfortunately,
Brittany Winget was on the receiving end of the loss as she moves to 4-3 on the season. She threw a complete 7-innings surrendering 5-runs with just 2-earned runs and only walking 2 batters.
