LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals won the first game of The Sun Conference Doubleheader 5-0 with
Sylvia Welsh dominating in the circle holding the powerful Sand Sharks to 3-hits. The Sand Sharks offense fired up in game two with 7-hits and 9-runs taking the 5-inning run rule.

The Royals struck in the bottom of the 1
stinning when
Breyonna Shell hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored
Kasey Heslin from third.
It was quiet until the bottom of the 6
thinning when the Royals broke loose for 4-runs.
Brittany Winget reached on a fielder's choice off a bunt that scored
Ashton Owen.
Megan Garfinkel shot a single to left scoring
Katelyn Richards who took over on the basepaths after a
Sara Bruno single.
Caitlyn Yockey may have grounded out, but pushed in
Brittany Winget to score in doing so for an RBI. Then a costly error later in the inning allowed
Megan Garfinkel to score sealing up the eventual 5-0 win for the Royals.
Facing just 5 batters more than the minimum,
Sylvia Welsh threw another gem inside of the circle spreading out 3-hits over a complete 7-innings pitched. She struck out 2 and only walked 1 in her efforts. In Sylvias last two starts, shes completed two games for 14 innings pitched, held opponents to 5 total hits and struck out 6 hitters. With this win she moved herself to 6-1 on the season.

In a turn of events it was the Sand Sharks that plundered the Royals with 7-hits, 9-runs, using 4 Royals errors to their advantage in game two. The Royals did strike off of a
Sara Bruno single into left field that scored
Ashton Owen.
Ashton Owen has continued to be a massive threat at the plate. Not only is she carrying an 8-game hitting streak, but in those 8 games she has gone 16-29 hitting .552, scoring 7-runs, hitting 3-triples, and punching across 7-RBI's.
Brooke Olinger pitched the majority of the game for the Royals spreading out 7-hits over 4 1/3 innings surrendering 9-runs, but of the 9, only 3-runs were earned. Olinger falls to 7-3 on the season.
The Royals schedule only heats up from here as they travel next weekend to take on the Fire of Southeastern University in Lakeland, Fla.
