Warner Softball – Royals Sweep Fire With Strong 20 Hit Performance

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Warner offense came alive for 20 hits in the two game conference matchup. Breyonna Shell hits first homerun of the season and career for a 3-run shot tying the game in the bottom of the 6th in game one.

GAME 1 - WU 5, SEU 3

Southeastern got off to a 2-0 start in the top of the 1st off of a solo homerun and a Sacrifice fly.
The Royals were trailing 0-3 in the top of the 6th inning. Aston Owen led off the inning drawing a walk. Sara Bruno was then hit by a pitch and made her way to 1st. Breyonna Shell stepped in and connected with a deep shot over the right center fence for her first homerun of the season and first homerun of her career tying the game 3-3.
The Royals added 2 more runs in the top of the 7thcapitalizing on a throwing error by the Fire defense.
Sylvia Welsh earned her 7th victory on the season spreading out 4-hits, 3 runs, 6 walks and striking out 2. Welsh improves to 7-1 on the year.

GAME 2 – WU 4, SEU 2

The Royals struck in the top of the 1st inning when Sara Bruno shot a single into center field that scored Kayleigh Walters giving them the 1-0 lead.

The Fire answered by capitalizing on an error and tying the game 1-1.

In the top of the 4th inning, Kayleigh Walters singled up the middle with bases loaded and scored Megan Garfinkel breaking the 1-1 tie and giving the Royals a 2-1 lead. Ashton Owen also hit a bases loaded single that scored Caitlyn Yockey and gave the Royals a 3-1 lead.

The Fire singled in a run in the bottom of the 5th closing the gap.

In the top of the 6th inning, Breyonna Shell hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Kasey Heslin from 3rd base. The Royals went on to take the victory with a final score of 4-2.

Brooke Olinger threw the complete game for the Royals earning her 8th victory on the season. Improving to 8-3, Olinger threw 7 innings, spread out 5-hits with 2-runs and walking 4.
