LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals broke out the brooms over Thomas University this afternoon in thrilling fashion. Warner swept Thomas in back to back walk-off wins. Impressively, Royals Freshman
Breyonna Shell, delivered both game winning hits and 3 RBI's off the two hits to give the Royals the victories.
GAME 1 – WU 3, TU 2 (8 Innings)
The Night Hawks struck first in the top of the 3
rdinning off of a double that scored a run.
In the bottom of the sixth, the Royals answered back with a single off the bat of
Sara Bruno that scored
Kayleigh Walters and tied the game at 1-1.
An exciting 7
thinning started in the top of the 7
thwhen the Night Hawks plated a run off another double and took a 2-1 lead.
Brittany Winget got things started in the bottom of the 7
thwhen she connected with a leadoff double off the wall in left field.
Megan Garfinkel singled in to centerfield and Winget advanced to 3
rd. With 2 outs,
Kayleigh Walters singled on the infield that scored Winget and tied the game 2-2.
Brooke Olinger took over inside of the circle for
Sylvia Welsh in the top of the 8
thinning. With the International tie-breaking rules in play, a runner was placed on 2
ndbase for the Night Hawks to start the inning. The Night Hawks started with a sacrifice bunt advancing the runner to 3
rdbase. Olinger sat down the Night Hawks 1-2-3 in the top half of the inning to slam the door shut.
The Royals took over in the bottom of the 8
thwith
Ashton Owen placed on 2
ndbase.
Sara Bruno stepped in and had a productive ground out that advance Owen to 3
rdbase.
Breyonna Shell geared up and rifled a single to left field that scored Owen and completed the extra innings walk-off victory for the Royals!
Sylvia Welsh threw 7 solid innings spreading out 8-hits and 2-runs while striking out 4.
Brooke Olinger took over and threw a hitless 8
thinning. Olinger sniped the win improving her to 9-3 on the season.
GAME 2 – WU 5, TU 4
The Night Hawks struck first again off an RBI single from Farr taking the 1-0 lead.
Abigail Oliver stepped in for the Royals in the bottom of the 5
thand flashed her bat singling down the left field line scoring
Kasey Heslin and
Caitlyn Yockey giving the Royals a 2-1 lead.
The 7
thinning again held a lot of excitement as the Night Hawks added what looked to be a game ending 3-runs in the top of the 7
thgiving them a 4-2 lead.
Reaching on an error with one out,
Kasey Heslin made the Night Hawks pay swiping second base for her team leading 11
thstolen bag of the season. A productive ground out by
Kayleigh Walters moved Heslin to 3
rdbase. Heslin took off on a wild pitch and scored moving the Royals within 1-run with two outs.
Ashton Owen kept the offense firing with a hard-single right back up the middle.
Abigail Oliver dug in and showed patience drawing her 2
ndwalk of the game giving the Royals runners on 1
stand 2
ndbase.
Breyonna Shell walked off for the second time blasting a double deep to left center that scored Owen from 2
ndbase and Oliver from 1
stbase completing the back to back walk-offs.
Brittany Winget came away with the complete 7-inning game spreading out 10-hits and 4-runs. Winget improves to 5-3 on the season with the win.

The Royals have now won 4-straight while winning 7 of their last 8 games improving to 23-9 overall and a 9-7 Sun Conference record.
