#19 Warner Baseball - Night Hawks Upset Royals In Game One Of Three Game Series

LAKE WALES, Fla. - Warner hosted their Sun Conference foe, the Thomas University Night Hawks in game 1 of a 3 game weekend TSC series.


The Royals entered the game with a 29-13 overall record and are 9-6 in conference play; Thomas came into the weekend with an 18-18 overall record and are 4-8 in the TSC.


Michael Batten started on the mound, making his 8th start of the season, for the Royals vs the Night Hawks. Batten pitcher admirably before he was relieved by Kody Smith.


The Night Hawks jumped on the board first in the top of the 4th inning after a lead off double was followed by a Triple to left center to take a 1-0 lead.



The Royals grabbed their 1st run in the bottom of the 5th inning after Erich Jaquez bunted for an infield single and was brought around to score on a Xanders Vazquez single to center field.


Thomas grabbed the lead again with 2 outs in the top of the 6th, scoring 1 run off a double and single to center field.



Thomas had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 our in the top of the 7th inning but were unable to get any runs across after Michael Batten forced back to back ground balls to short stop to halt the Night Hawks chances.



The Royals were threatening in the bottom half of the 7th after a 2 out single by Xanders Vazquez and back to back walks to load the bases but were unable to get any runs across to tie the game.


Night Hawks added their 3rd run in the top of the 8th off a 2 out triple over to left field, to take a 3-1 lead over the Royals.



The Royals were unable to rally in the 8th or 9th innings and fell to the Night Hawks 3-1.
