LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Thomas University Night Hawks took on the Warner Royals in games 2 and 3 of their Sun Conference series this afternoon, splitting the day as the Night Hawks won game 1 but lost game 2 to the Royals.
Game 1 – TU 6; WU 3
Game 2 – TU 1; WU 4
The Royals lost this TSC series, 2-1, but pulled out an important, must win, in game 3 of the series.

Game 1
Jaryd Clary, (6-1), made his 11th start of the season in game 1 of today's double header, pitching 2 2/3 innings before being relieved by
Joey Theune.
Thomas jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st when a 1 out ground ball to
Rafael Astacio allowed the runner at 3rd to score.
Night Hawks were pressing in the top of the 2nd but were unable to score after
Jaryd Clary worked the Royals out of a bases loaded jam.
Erich Jaquez started off the bottom of the 3rd with a solo homerun to left field to tie the game 1-1.
The Night Hawks added 3 more in the top of the 4th to extend their lead to 4-1.
The Royals were threatening in the bottom of the 5th but were unable to get a run across as the Night Hawks worked out of a bases loaded jam.
Thomas added their 5th run of the game in the top of the 7th inning off a couple base hits and an over throw from the catcher back to the pitcher.
The Royals scored their 2nd run of the game in the bottom of the 8th off a 2 out double by
Ronny Penalo that brought
Xanders Vazquez home to score.
Rafael Astacio kept things going with 2 outs, driving in
Ronny Penalo for the 3rd run for the Royals. Royals trailed 5-3 as they entered the 9th Inning.
Thomas added 1 more in the top of the 9th off a 2 out double to bring their lead up to 6-3.
The Royals put together 2 hits in the bottom of the 9th inning but were unable to score and fell to the Night Hawks 6-3 in game 1.
Game 2
Andres Fernandez, (6-4), took the mound for his 11th start of the year in game 2 of the double header.
Fernandez pitched remarkably, only giving up 1 ER and striking out 7 before being relieved by
Ryan Klingler, who grabbed his 3
rd save of the season.
Warner got on the board first when
Xanders Vazquez crossed home after a bases loaded walk to
Rio Russell to take a 1-0 lead.
The Royals added 3 more runs in the bottom of the 4th off 1 out RBI singles from
Rafael Astacio and
Ronny Penalo to extend their lead to 4-0.
Thomas got on the board in the top of the 8th inning when they hit a solo homerun to left field.
Andres Fernandez pitched 8 innings before being relieved by
Ryan Klingler who came in and shut the door on the day and sealed the Royals 30
th win this season.
