WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The Warner Royals bested the NAIA #6 and Sun Conference Tournament #2 Seed, the St. Thomas University Bobcats 10-8 in round one of the TSC tournament.
With this playoff win the Royals will take on the winner of the Keiser vs. Webber game.
The Royals will play again tomorrow Friday, May 3 at 6:00 PM.
Andres Fernandez took the mound this afternoon for his 14
th start of the year on the mound for the Royals, pitching 8 innings, allowing 5 ER and striking out 6 on route to his 9
th win of the season.
St. Thomas jumped ahead in the top of the 1
st scoring 2 runs off a 2-run HR.
Warner retaliated in the bottom of the 2
nd, scoring 4 runs off a bases loaded walk to
Jan Martinez and a bases clearing double by
Xanders Vazquez.
The Royals scored 5 more runs in the bottom of the 7
th inning off 2 hits one of them being a bases clearing double, this time by
Scott Fickas.
The Royals lead 10-2 as the game entered the top of the 9
th inning and the Bobcats made a valiant effort to come back, scoring 6 runs off 6 hits but in the end the Royals came away with their 33
rd win after
Joey Theune came in and grabbed his 2
nd save of the year.
