MOBILE, Ala. – Warner Men's Soccer stumbled out of the gate falling to the Rams 0-4 in the 2019 season opener.
The Royals opened up their season on the road in Mobile, Ala. tonight. The Mobile Rams are receiving votes for the NAIA Coaches Top-25 and proved to be a very tough opponent. Both teams are coming off of successful 2018 campaigns, the Royals finishing with a 12-7-1 record and the Rams 13-4.
Total shots and corner kicks is what the game came down to tonight. The Rams outshot the Royals 12-6 while 7 of the Rams shots landed on goal with 4 of them finding the back of the net. The Rams also were able to take 10 corner kicks to the Royals 1.
There is a lot to take away from tonight's game but there were a few bright spots. The Royals had four different players rifle off shots throughout the night. Warner's junior,
Timothy Shaner, was able to break through the tough Mobile defense and take 3 shots with 1 shot on goal.
Simiran Pnasier,
Juan Gazzotti and
Andrew Hope were the other Royals to register a shot.
The Royals will learn quickly and move forward as they take on Pensacola Christian Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. EST.
