THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The Warner University men's soccer team opened up The Sun Conference schedule on the road today with a shutout victory over the Night Hawks 1-0.
With the game scoreless in the first half. The Royals had 6 attempted shots and the Night Hawks had 9 shots with 4 of those saves by Royals goalie
Angelo Neto.
After multiple misses the Royals finally broke through in the start of the second half in the 47
th minute. Royals
Daniel Rodriguez scored his fifth goal of the season, assisted by
Deven Ingley which turned into the game winner.
From there, the Royals where able to hold their ground the rest of the game. The Night Hawks had 13 more attempted shots and 7 were saved again by goalie
Angelo Neto making a total of saves 11 for the day. The Royals had 8 attempted shots with 5 on goal in the second half.
A great start with a team effort which led to the Royals 1-0 win over the Night Hawks in the Sun Conference opener. Head coach
Drew Stacey said, "All freshmen back four defenders pulled out a shutout. It was an all-out effort for the team this afternoon.
Angelo Neto played flawless in goal."
The Royals next game is at Florida Memorial University on Wednesday, October 2 in Miami Gardens.
