LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals opened their 2019 home campaign against No. 15 Grace College. The Lancers took the glory from the field defeating the Royals 4-0.
This was the first ever meeting between the two schools during the regular season. The two met up in the 2018 NCCAA National Championship tournament in 2018 and it was the Lancers that came with a 5-1 victory.
The Lancers average 19 shots a game and the Royals held them to their second lowest total of the season at 16 shots. Of those 16, the Royals defense stood strong in the opening half holding the Lancers to just 2 shots with 5 minutes remaining in the half.
The Royals were held to a season low 3 shots, however, all 3 were well placed and shots on goal.
The Royals fall to 0-3 on the season following the loss to the Lancers. Warner opened up their 2019 schedule with a tough start to the season as two of their first three games were against NAIA nationally recognized opponents in (RV) Truett McConnell and (15) Grace College.
Warner will face Webber International and Florida National in non-conference matchups next week before starting a very tough Sun Conference Schedule that includes NAIA No. 3 Southeastern and NAIA No. 2 Keiser.
