LAKE WALES, Fla. – The historic rivalry between Warner and Webber tipped in favor of the Royals tonight with a 79-76 win over the Warriors.
With the win tonight the Royals have taken a victory home in ten of the last eleven matchups between the rivals.
Since 2003 the Royals were 16-4 when playing in the Turner Athletic Center against Webber International. With tonight's win they extend their reach to 17-4 when playing at home. In the overall series, the Royals are now 27-12 when playing the Warriors.
In tonight's win, the Royals had three players tie for the lead in point totals.
Maxwell Benoit,
Jaquez Dickerson, and
Rod Boggan all fired up for 15 points on the night.
Darryl Mercer was the only other player to reach double-digits as he finished the night with 14 points.
Jaquez Dickerson was 1 rebound shy of a double-double as he finished the night with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.
The Royals shot 43.7% from the field in the game and just under 30% from beyond the arc. There was a slight struggle with free throws as the Royals only hit 9-14 in the game.
The Royals improve to 14-5 overall and 3-4 in The Sun Conference. Next up, the College of Coastal Georgia travels to Lake Wales to take on the Royals January 16
