LAKELAND, Fla. – The Royals traveled to the Furnace in Lakeland last night to take on Southeastern in a Sun Conference matchup. With a couple of win by two thrilling sets, it was the Royals that notched the win.
It was a battle inside of the Furnace last night as the Royals outlasted the Fire 3-1. The first set went extras with Southeastern laying claim 26-28. Following the first set, the second set lasted until the Royals jumped out with a 29-27 win. Warner then put up back to back set victories 25-22, and 25-21.
It was a good win for Warner and a great night for a couple Royals. The freshman,
TarriAnne Henry registered a career high 14 kills. The Royals senior
Sydney Ackermann recorded a four-year career best of 18 kills. The pair combined for 32 kills and an attacking percentage of .346 on the night.
Madison Hughes and
Bailee Mack split time as the primary setter in the matchup. Both registered double-doubles, Hughes finished the night with 30 assists and 12 digs, while Mack ended the game with 18 assists and 11 digs.
The Royals put a win in the column improving to 1-4 to shake off a rusty start to the season. There's lots of volleyball left and next up the Royals take on St. Thomas University October 3
