LAKE WALES, Fla. – In one of the few non-conference matchups for the Royals this season, they took on the Barons of Brewton Parker in a game that went into overtime.
The Royals wasted no time getting on the board in the 6
th minute as
Blessing Zim charged in receiving the ball from
Brooke Blommel and rifled a shot to the back of the net. It was Zim's second goal of the season and the first assist credited to Blommel.
Just seven minutes later in the 13
th minute, Aamya Moville scored for the Barons off a free kick just outside of the 18 that deflected into the net. The goal was Moville's first goal of the season.
It was a tight race all the way until the end of regulation as the two teams remained tied and headed into overtime. In the 4
th minute of overtime,
Maddie Manzke placed a perfect corner kick into the goalie box and found a jumping
Sara Machado who scored the golden goal game winner on a header into the upper 90.
The Royals fired 13 shots in the contest with 10 of them on goal.
The win improves the Royals to 4-4 on the season and with two saves
Gabrielle Barnette earned the win in net improving to 1-2 on the season.
