LAKE WALES, Fla. – Warner began to mount a comeback against the NAIA (RV) Keiser Seahawks in the 9
th inning, forcing 3 Keiser pitchers to take the mound, but fell just short of the talented Sun-Conference team 11-7.
Keiser opened the game strong, scoring 2 runs in the 2
nd inning and 5 in the 3
rd inning to jump ahead 7-0.
Warner answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 3
rd inning, after
Zachary Balogh singled the left, bringing home
Tad Stockowski.
The Seahawks tallied 3 more runs in the top of the 6
th inning to extend their lead to 8 runs.
Warner trailed 11-2 as the team headed for the bottom of the 9
th inning but the Royals surged and scored 5 runs with 1 out.
A wild pitch that brought
Jan Martinez home to score started the Royals rally and was followed by a
Scott Fickas triple down the 1
st base line that brought 3 runs home.
David Torres followed Scott's triple with a solo-homerun to left field, to bring the score 11-7, however, despite getting a few more base runners in the 9
th the Royals were unable to complete the comeback.
