BABSON PARK, Fla. – With their 18
th win of the season, the Warner Royals have inched closer to solidifying a spot in the Sun-Conference playoffs.
The Royals took down their crooked lake rival, the Webber International Warriors 85-75 in what was a tough, hard fought game down to the end.
Warner held a 7-point lead over the Warriors at halftime and were able to defend well enough in the 2
nd half of the game to prevent the scrappy Warrior offense from mounting a comeback.
Maxwell Benoit, the leading scorer this season for the Royals with 471 points, lead his team yet again scoring a game-high 21 points. Benoit's season accolades have earned him #45 in the NAIA in total scoring.
Rod Boggan scored 17 points, exploding for 13 in the 2
nd half of today's game, while
Darryl Mercer Jr. rounded out the top 3 scorers for the Royals with 15 points.
Jaquez Dickerson narrowly missed a double-double today, scoring 9 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
The Royals currently sit in 5
th place in the TSC playoff rankings, 2 games ahead of their rival the Webber International Warriors. With just 2 regular season games left the Royals need to win out to cement their place in the playoffs.
