LAKE WALES, Fla. – In a very exciting 9 inning battle, the Warner Royals captured their 13
th win this season after rallying back and defeating the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 6-4.
Warner took an early 1-0 in the 1
st inning but were unable to build on that and found themselves trailing the Blue Devils 2-1 until the 5
th inning when the Royals took a 3-2 lead off 2 singles in the inning. The score would remain 3-2 until the 7
th inning.
Ryley Rozar made his 5
th start of the season tonight, pitching 6.1 innings, giving up 2 ER and 5 K's before being relieved by
Jake Ratledge in the top of the 7
th inning.
Jake Ratledge faced adversity early in his relief appearance giving up a 2 run single with 2 outs in the 7
th that gave the Blue Devils a 4-3 lead.
Taylor Briggs battled at the plate and capped off a terrific at bat with a 2 run homerun to left field in the bottom half of the 7
th so give the Royals a 5-4 lead.
The Royals added 1 more run in the bottom of the 8
th inning off a single by
Zachary Balogh to center field to take the lead 6-4 as the teams headed into the 9
th inning.
The Royals brought
Taylor Briggs in from center field to pitch and close out the game for the Royals in the 9
th inning and after striking out the first batter he faced, working a pop-up and ground out, Briggs earned his 1
st save of the year and the Royals earned their 13
th win.
