LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals improved to 17-3 on the season and 2-0 in TSC play with a big doubleheader sweep over the University of South Carolina Beaufort.
GAME 1 – WU 3, USCB 0
Tiffany Dodson threw an absolute gem from inside the circle. Facing 23 total batters, Dodson shut the door for the Sand Sharks right off the bat striking out the first 7 batters to head to the plate.
Tiffany Dodson picked up her 8
th win of the season throwing 7 innings, surrendering no hits and striking out 16 while walking two batters. Of the 16 strikeouts, 15 were swinging strikeouts.
The game was scoreless heading into the bottom of the 4
th inning.
Breyonna Shell rifled a double off the right center fence that brought
Avery Cotterill in to score.
Kaitlyn Ridolph singled in
Breyonna Shell to give the Royals a 2-0 lead. Warner would add to the lead in the bottom of the 6
th inning when
Breyonna Shell again put the ball in play on a ground out to short but it scored
Ashton Owen.
Crafty baserunning for the Royals improved their thievery as they swiped 4 bags in the contest.

Madison Servo all registered stolen bases in a perfect 4-4 effort.

GAME 2 – WU 8, USCB 7 (9 Innings)
The Royals used 8 hits and 8 runs to take an extra inning thriller.
Warner scored 2 in the bottom of the first with a
Sara Bruno RBI single scoring
Kayleigh Walters.
Ashton Owen followed Bruno with a sacrifice fly that scored
Kasey Heslin. USCB used the top of the third inning to plate 3 runs and took a 3-2 lead over the Royals.
Ashton Owen answered the Sand Sharks in the bottom of the third stealing 3
rd base and forcing a throw to an unmanned base allowing her to score and even things up at 3-3.
USCB shot a 2 RBI single in the top of the 4
th to extend the lead to 5-3. The Royals answered again right away in the bottom of the 4
th with an
Ashton Owen single that scored
Kayleigh Walters and
Kasey Heslin.
Avery Cotterill reached on an infield error that scored
Sara Bruno and gave the Royals a 6-5 lead. The Sand Sharks tied things up in the top of the 5
th inning with a sac fly.
Heading into extra innings, both teams registered a run in the 8
th inning to force a 9
th inning.
Tiffany Dodson struck out back to back hitters in the top of the 9
th before registering an inning ending popup. With
Kasey Heslin placed as the tiebreaking runner on second,
Ashton Owen laid down a sac bunt successfully moving Heslin to 3
rd.
Avery Cotterill then laid down a beautiful bunt on the infield that allowed
Kasey Heslin to beat out the throw and the Royals completed the extra inning walkoff against the Sand Sharks.
Sylvia Welsh spread out 8 hits and 6 runs with only 1 of them earned over 5.1 innings pitched.
Tiffany Dodson came in and pitch relief for Welsh throwing 3.2 innings surrendering just 2 hits and 1 unearned run while striking out 6.
Tiffany Dodson faced 35 Sand Sharks at the plate within the two games and delivered 22 total strikeouts with only 2 hits while improving to 9-1 on the season taking both wins.

th straight game today improving to 17-3 overall and 2-0 in TSC play.
