LAKE WALES, Fla. - (RV) Warner won their 11th straight home game, a streak that started last season. This season, they remain a perfect 9-0 in the Turner Athletic Center with tonight's 80-73 win over St. Thomas.
The Royals and Bobcats met up for the 25th time on the basketball court tonight. The Bobcats hold a 14-10 all-time series lead over the Royals and took the first game in the season series in Miami Gardens in November of last year. The Royals were on a four game slide to the Bobcats entering tonight's matchup.
Tied up at 8-8 the Bobcats used a two minute run to score 7 unanswered points on the Royals. After the Bobcats extended their 26-19 lead, the Royals began to climb up hill and a three pointer from Darryl Mercer Jr. with 00:50 left in the half gave the Royals a 35-33 lead that they would take into halftime.
The Royals pulled away to start the second half and stayed ahead consistently. A last ditch effort by the Bobcats pulled them within four at 78-73 with just 00:16 left in the game. A couple of made free throws by Blaize Darling Jr. sealed the game up for the Royals with a final score of 80-73.
The Royals had six players reach double digits on the night. Logan West (14) and also had 3 crucial blocks. Jordin Jackson (14), Rod Boggan (13), Darryl Mercer Jr. (11), Joseph Martz (10), Blaize Darling Jr. (10).
Warner has extended their home winning streak to 11 straight games. A perfect 9-0 makes Warner a very tough team to beat inside of the Turner Athletic Center and with three home games remaining.
