LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals won the overall series against the Tigers.
The matchup between Warner and Edward Waters dates back to March 19, 2006. The Royals lead with an overall record of 23-6 against the Tigers.
In game one of the doubleheader,
Logan Flood doubled to left field in the bottom of the 4
th and registered 2 RBIs scoring
David Torres and
Josh Strickland to put the Royals up on the board. Later in the game in the bottom of the 7
th Torres singled to center field with an RBI that brought in
Taylor Briggs to bring the game to 4-3 in favor of the Tigers. The Royals battled in game one but the Tigers took the win 4-3.
In game two the Royals were off to an early start putting runs on the board. In the bottom of the 1
st,
Tyler Brown had a stand-up double to right-center with an RBI that brought in Strickland. Torres singled up the middle and recorded 2 RBIs scoring Brown and
John Pichman. In the bottom of the 5
th, Briggs hit a double to center field with an RBI that brought
Trevor Thomas. To walk it off in the bottom of the 7
th Brown flied out to center field for a sacrifice fly gained an RBI to bring in Briggs to win the game. Briggs also registered the win off the mound that night. The Royals won game two 5-4 with the walk off from Brown.
In game three
John Bean dealt for 6 innings with 12 strikeouts in the day. In the bottom of the 1
stBriggs tripled to center field to get himself on base. Strickland collected an RBI to score Briggs for the first run of the game. In the bottom of the 6
th bases were loaded and
Tad Stockowski got hit by the pitch to bring in Pichman to score the second run. The Royals won game three 2-0.
The Royals will now start Sun Conference play and will face the Fire of Southeastern on Friday, February 19, and Saturday, February 20 at home.
