LAKE WALES, Fla. - The Royals fell for the first time this season to the powerful (12) William Carey Crusaders.
The Crusaders managed to snap the Royals lengthy win streak in one of the biggest NAIA top 25 matchups so far this season.
Game 1 - WU 3, WCU 6
The Royals were held off the board until the bottom of the fourth when Katelyn Richards smashed a solo homerun for the first of her Royals career. In the bottom of the seventh, Warner added a couple runs with a Kelly Dwyer single up the middle that scored Aurielle Turner. Jennifer Bryant grounded into a fielder's choice that scored Ashton Owen. The Royals were stopped shy on their comeback dropping game one of the double header 3-6.
Katelyn Richards went 2-2- at the plate with an RBI and a run scored and her first homerun of her career and season.
Game 2 - WU 3, WCU 8
The Royals were again held scoreless until late in the bottom of the fifth inning when Katelyn Richards shined with another homerun on the night, this time a three run shot that scored Kasey Heslin and Madison Ioia. Warner fell again at the hands of the (11) Crusaders with a final score of 3-8.
Katelyn Richards was 2-4 at the plate with 3 RBI's and a run scored. Sara Bruno also put together a multi hit effort with a 2-3 performance.
(19) Warner fell for just the first time this season dropping to 6-2.
They hit the field again on Thursday taking on Freed-Hardeman University in Lake Wales.
