(19) Warner Softball - Warner Splits With Freed-Hardeman In Strong Pitching Duel

LAKE WALES, Fla. - (19) Royals took game one from the Lions earning their seventh season victory and dropped game two following a very tight pitching duel.

GAME 1 - WU 3, FHU 2

Trailing 0-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Jennifer Bryant singled into left field scoring Sara Bruno to give the Royals their first run. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Katelyn Richards grounded in Kasey Heslin to tie the game at 2-2. Breyonna Shell fired up the bat #Shellshocking a line drive double to left center and scoring Alison Yawn for what would be the eventual game winner.

Alison Yawn, Breyonna Shell and Jennifer Bryant all finished the game with multi hit performances all going 2-3 at the plate. Breyonna Shell and Sara Bruno both registered doubles in the game.

Kara Bradley started the game for the Royals throwing 3 innings and spreading out 5 hits and 2 runs. Tiffany Dodson came in and earned her fifth win of the season hurling 4 innings and only surrendering 1 hit while striking out 1.

Game 2 - WU 1, FHU 4

The Royals struck first blood in the bottom of the first with a sacrifice fly off the bat of Katelyn Richards that scored Alison Yawn and gave the Royals a 1-0 lead. The RBI for Richards marked her 9th of the season.

Warner maintained the 1-0 lead until the top of the fourth when the Lions found a three run homerun off the bat of Harris. They added one more run in the top of the sixth inning for the eventual 4-1 upset over the Royals.

Tiffany Dodson hurled the complete game for the Royals and fell to 5-2 on the season. She threw a great game striking out 9 Lions with practically the only mishap being the fourth inning homerun. Equally, Brittany Adair threw a good game for the Lions holding the powerful Royals offense to just 2 hits and striking out 8.

FINAL THOUGHTS

This was the first ever series between the two schools on the softball field so the history will reflect a split series. Freed-Hardeman joins the already very tough schedule assembled by the Royals. (19) Warner softball won their seventh game of the early season and will take a week break before taking on yet another onslaught of difficult northern teams.
