(RV) Warner Baseball – Royals Polish Off Gyrenes Taking Series In Walkoff Fashion

LAKE WALES, Fla. – (RV) Warner Baseball becomes the third team in The Sun Conference to reach the overall 20 win mark.

Warner and Ave Maria split the series doubleheader which gave the Royals the 2-1 advantage.

Warner has now earned the conference win in 2-3 TSC series. The Royals have also won six out of the last seven games including the 2021 Warner University Invitational which featured some of the nation's best talent.

The Royals scored 30 total runs in the three-game series.

In the first game of the double header, the Royals held a commanding 7-0 lead following the bottom of the first inning. The Gyrenes then used the next three innings to inch back and eventually take the lead in the top of the fourth inning 9-7 over the Royals including a solo homerun off the bat of Bergkamp.

The Royals regained the lead in the fourth and fifth innings with some power off the bats. In the fourth inning, Anthony Capri hit a 3-run homerun to right field. Tyler Brown hit a 2-run homerun deep to right field. John Pichman finished off the scoring for the Royals hitting a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth giving the Royals a 13-9 lead.

Trailing 12-13, Ave Maria's Stanley stepped up to the plate with bases loaded full of Gyrenes. Stanley got the pitch he was looking for and sent a shot to right center for a grand slam giving the Gyrenes a 16-13 lead.
