LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Royals take two games from the Eagles. Warner faced Judson for a midweek doubleheader before the Warner Invitational.
For game one the Royals wasted no time in scoring 8 runs in the first two innings.
David Torres capitalized on an error by the Eagles to reach second base which scored
Tyler Brown and
Josh Strickland in the bottom of the 1
st. Right after
Devin Frost scored on a wild pitch.
Logan Flood then scored a run making the game 4-2 in favor of the Royals.
In the bottom of the 2
nd, Brown singled to right field, scoring
Zachary Balogh.
John Pichman doubled to left field recorded an RBI scoring Strickland. Torres singled to center registered 2 RBIs scoring Brown and Pichman to advance the game to 9-0 Royals up.
Andy Yarbrough took the win off the mound for the Royals improving his overall record to 2-0.
Game two
The Eagles got off to an early start scoring 2 runs in the first inning but the Royals answered back in the bottom of the 3
rd. Warner capitalized on the errors by Judson,
Taylor Briggs and Brown scored from an error by the right fielder to tie the game 2-2. Judson scored again to improve the game to 4-2 the Royals trailing. From another defensive error in the bottom of the 5
th Zachary Arnold scored that brought the game to 4-3.
The Eagles battled throughout the game and scored again in the 7
th inning to leave the Royals to the last 3 outs to make a comeback. Warner answered back and scored in the bottom of the 7
th. Strickland singled to left field to score Briggs. Pichman then doubled to left field to score Frost to tie the game once again 5-5. Flood went to bat with bases loaded and walked to bring in the winning run to walk off the game.
Pichman took the win off the mound for game two improving his overall record to 2-0. He was one of the three pitchers to throw for the Royals tonight.
Warner will participate in the RussMatt Baseball Invitational to face Dordt College from Iowa at 12 & 3 pm.
