MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Royals took two of the three-game series against the Lions. Warner moves to 8-10 in the Sun Conference. Royals improved the overall record against the Lions to 29-13 in favor of Warner.
Game one
The Lions scored one run in the bottom of the 1
st. In the top of the 2
nd, bases were loaded
Trevor Thomas walked and Anthony Carpi scored to tie the game. Capri is ranked No. 1 in the NAIA in fielding percentage (1.000).
Jan Martinez walked with bases loaded as well and
Taylor Briggs scored to put the Royals on top.
John Pichman singled to center field and registered 2 RBIs scoring Thomas and
Zachary Balogh.
Josh Strickland singled to left field listed an RBI scoring Martinez that put the game 5-1 in favor of Warner.
Florida Memorial answered back in the bottom of the 2
nd and scored 7 runs to make the game 8-5. In the bottom of the 3
rd, Thomas singled through the left side and recorded an RBI scoring Capri. Martinez reached on a fielder's choice and registered 2 RBIs scoring Balogh and Briggs. With bases loaded Strickland walked and Martinez scored.
Logan Flood registered an RBI with a sacrifice fly right field to score
Tyler Brown. Capri singled down the left line and listed an RBI scoring Pichman to improve the game to 11-8 Royals up.
The Miami natives tied the game in the bottom of the 3
rd. In the top of the 4
th, Brown recorded an RBI with a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Thomas to put Warner on top. In the 5
th inning, the Lions tied the game once again and took the lead in the 6
th inning. In the bottom of the 8
th, Thomas doubled to center field registered an RBI scoring Briggs to tie the game. Martinez singled through the left side and listed an RBI scoring Balogh to take the lead and make the game 14-13.
Elijah Garner started the game for the Royals and Pedro Reyes went in relief.
Luke Myers went in to relieve Reyes and took the win off of the mound improving his overall record to 2-2.
Game two
In the top of the 2
nd, laid down a bunt of a single registered an RBI scoring Capri. In the top of the 3
rd, Capri walked with bases loaded to score Brown. Strickland got hit by a pitch with bases loaded that lead to Pichman scoring to make the game 3-0 Royals up. In the bottom of the 4
th, the Lions tied the game and took the lead 4-3.
Pichman hit a home run to left field recorded 2 RBIs scoring Brown to take the lead. He now has 14 home runs in the season. Strickland singled up the middle listed an RBI scoring Flood. The Lions scored one run in the bottom of the 5
th. In the top of the 6
th, Flood singled to shortstop registered an RBI scoring Martinez.
In the top of the 8
th, Brown singled and the Royals capitalized on the error by the Lions to score another run. Pichman hit his second home run in left field and recorded 2 RBIs scoring Brown. He now has 49 RBIs in the season, he is ranked No. 25 in the NAIA for RBIs. Flood hit his 4
th home run of the season to left field to make the game 11-5 in favor of Warner.
John Bean started the game for the Royals and pitched 8 innings with 9 strikeouts.
Liam Felix went to close the game and threw 9 pitches facing 3 batters.
The Royals will return home to face Thomas University on Friday, April 16 for a Sun Conference match-up.
