LAKE WALES, Fla. – (RV) Royals take the win from the Nighthawks in game one of the series.
The history between these two teams dates back to 2006. The last time Warner faced Thomas was in The Sun Conference tournament back in 2019. Due to the season-ending early because of COVID-19 in the season of 2020, these two teams did not have the chance to play each other last season. The overall record is 17-18 in favor of the Nighthawks.
In the top of the 1
st the Nighthawks scored 2 runs to take the lead. In the bottom of the 2
nd,
Tyler Brown hit a sacrifice fly to center field registered in RBI scoring
Zachary Balogh to make the game 2-1 Thomas on top. In the top of the 3
rd, Nighthawks scored 2 more runs to make the game 4-1. In the bottom of the 3
rd,
Daniel Coca grounded out to shortstop but registered an RBI scoring
Logan Flood. Balogh then singled up the middle listed an RBI scoring
Josh Strickland.
Brian Spradlin singled to right field recorded an RBI scoring
Anthony Capri to tie the game 4-4. Brown then singled to right field listed 2 RBIs scoring
Taylor Briggs and Balogh to take the lead 6-4.
In the bottom of the 6
th, Spradlin hit another single but this one to left field and recorded another RBI scoring Balogh to improve the game to 7-4 Royals up. Brown doubled to right field listed 2 RBIs scoring
Jan Martinez and Briggs to make the game 9-4 in favor of Warner. In the top of the 8
th, Thomas scored 2 runs to make the game 9-6. In the bottom of the 8
th, Spradlin hit a sacrifice fly to left field recorded an RBI scoring Capri improving the game to 10-6.
The starting pitcher for the Royals was
Freddy Gonzalez, he pitched 4 innings. Senior, Andy Yarbrough went in relief of Gonzalez. Yarbrough went 5 innings taking the win off of the mound improving his overall record to 4-0.
