Warner Baseball – Royals Drop Series Opener In Miami

Miami Gardens, Fla. – The Royals face the Lions for the first time this season for a Sun Conference matchup. Warner moves to 6-10 in the conference. 
 
The history between the Royals and the Lions dates back to 2006 with an overall record of 27-13 in favor of Warner. The last time these two teams played against each other was February 16, 2019, due to COVID-19. 
 
Warner scored their first run in the top of the 2nd. Daniel Coca registered an RBI with a sacrifice fly to center to score Josh Strickland. The Lions answered back in the 4th inning to get ahead 2-1. In the 5th inning, Florida Memorial scored 3 runs to remain on top. 
 
In the top of the 8th, Erich Jaquez singled to right field and recorded an RBI scoring Logan Flood. Flood then capitalized on an error by the third baseman to get on base and listed an RBI scoring Jan Martinez to make the game 6-3 in favor of the Lions. 
 
Freddy Gonzalez was the starting pitcher for the Royals, he went four innings. Andy Yarbrough went in relief and pitched four innings as well. 
 
Warner will play the next two games of the three-game series tomorrow at 12 and 3 pm.
