MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Royals took a road trip to Alabama to participate in the Faulkner Invitational and played William Carey, Mobile, Freed-Hardeman, and Faulkner.
Game one was against William Carey, that was the first time in program history that these two teams have faced each other.
TarriAnne Henry,
Miranda Manduley, and
Hannah Bell led offensively for the Royals. Henry with 7 kills and Manduley and Bell with 6 kills each.
Madison Hughes led with 14 assists for Warner and was the defensive leader with 7 digs.
In game two the Warner faced Mobile for the second time this season, just last week the Royals played the Rams at home in the Royals Classic that resulted in a four-set match. This match against the Rams was three sets.
Henry notched another 7 kills in game two,
Lady Gwendolyn Simpson recorded 5 kills and
Alyssa Muench registered 3 kills.
Freshman
Becca Mack recorded 10 assists. Hughes led the Royals defensively and registered 10 more digs, improving her to 17 digs in the day.
The next day of the Faulkner Invitational the Royals played Freed Hardeman and Faulkner.
Royals picked up their first win in the tournament against the Lions. Warner took the set 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-13).
Henry picked up another 13 kills, Bell had 6 and Manduley had 5. Hughes led with assists recorded 16. Leading defensively for the Royals were
Alyanna Correia with 14 digs,
Aurora Alderman with 8, and
Kylee Brooks with 6. Manduley and Simpson registered 2 blocks each.
For the last game of the tournament for the Royals, they faced the Eagles of Faulkner University. The last time these two teams played each other was in 2016, their overall record is now 2-1.
Henry notched 12 kills, Mack registered 8 kills, and Muench 7 kills. Brooks, Henry, and Correia recorded 2 aces each.
Hughes registered 18 assists and Mack 12 assists. The defensive leaders were Correia, Simpson, Mack, and Manduley. Correia recorded 19 digs, Simpson registered 2 blocks, and Manduley and Mack 1 block each.
The Royals will stay on the road as they enter conference play against the Fire of Southeastern on September 15 at 7 pm.
