Warner Football – Royals Defeat The Knights In Home Opener

LAKELAND, Fla. – Royals take their first win of the season during the home opener against Kentucky Christian University. Warner improves their record to 1-2.
 
Warner is finally back on their home field in Lakeland Christian School. Due to COVID-19 today was the first time back there since 2019. 
 
The history between these two teams goes back to 2018. The Royals have a winning record against the Knights. After today's game, Warner improves to 2-1 against KCU. 
 
The first touchdown for the Royals was by Senior, Trevon Jackson to take the lead in the first quarter and the kick was on target for Hunter Smith. Kevin Davis scored the second touchdown of the game to extend the lead in the second quarter and Smith nailed it with another perfect kick to make the game 14-0. Smith scored a 42-yard field goal to improve the game to 17-0 in favor of the Royals. Davis scored his second touchdown and Smith with the kick to lengthen the lead 24-0 just before halftime. 
 
In the second half, KCU made an adjustment to score their first touchdown of the game in the 4th quarter to make the game 24-7. The Royals answered back with a good 44-yard field goal by Smith to move the score 27-7 Royals up. The Knights answered with back-to-back touchdowns to cut the lead for the Royals to 27-21.
 
Warner will get back on the road to travel to Barbourville, Kentucky to play Union College on September 25.
