BARBOURVILLE, KY – Royals now on a two-game win streak after defeating Union College 31-24.
The Royals felt very confident when they stepped onto the bus Thursday morning to travel all the way up to Barbourville, Kentucky. Especially after winning their first game of the season the weekend before against Kentucky Christian University. Warner University has had good history when facing Union, the past couple of years. The Royals and Union College have faced off three times with their first matchup dating back to 2015. This has resulted in three wins for Warner.
The first points of the game started with
Hunter Smith the kicker for the Royals, after he made a 41-yard field goal attempt. The veteran
Andre Tommie caught a 22-yard pass from
Michael Young to extend the Royals lead 10-0. In the second and third quarter Union College would fight back to take the lead 24-17 with Isaiah Wright running in three touchdowns. The Royals would not travel roughly 1,000 miles without putting up a fight.
Kyle Metiam would run in a 3-yard touchdown after an 8-play drive for the Royals to tie the game up 24-24. Warner University would ice the game after a 65-yard pass from quarterback
Michael Young to
Trevon Jackson. The Royals would maintain their 31-24 victory to acquire their 2
nd win of the season.
The Royals will play St. Thomas University in Lakeland, FL on October 2
nd at 1:00 PM EST.
