LAKE WALES, FL- The Royals hosted Aquinas College (Mich.) in a non-conference game hosted in Lake Wales, Fla.
This game showcased a strong defensive effort from both the Royals and the visiting Saints as both offenses found trouble putting points on the board. It was the heroic efforts of juniors
Blaize Darling Jr and
Logan West who catapulted the Royals to a 68 to 60 win. Darling and West combined for 51 out of the team's 68 points, en route to their teams fifth straight win. The Saints went to their bench early and often in this one, with 29 of their points coming off the bench. The Royals maintained a slight edge over the glass, out rebounding the Saints 30 to 28.
Blaize Darling Jr was the difference maker, scoring a season high 30 points for the Royals on 52.4% shooting. Darling Jr went a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe, while also bringing down seven rebounds in the contest. He continues to be a focal point in the offensive, bumping his season PPG total to 17.5.
Logan West played a massive role on both sides of the court, scoring 21 points along with his seven rebounds, three assists, and five steals. For West, this is back-to-back games with over 20 points and at least seven rebounds. The Saints fought down to the wire, getting a solid performance off the bench from Jared Lary, who finished with a team high 13 points, additionally adding four steals, and a perfect tally from the line. The Royals stayed out of foul trouble today, garnering only 12 opposed to the Saints' 17.
Josh Glesil cleaned the glass today for Warner, bringing in a team high eight rebounds. The Royals will look to remain in the win column when they match up against Mitchell College Tuesday in a non-conference game.
