Warner Women's Basketball Starts The New Year With Road Conference Win Over FMU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla - The Lady Royals hit the road and head down to Miami Gardens, Fla to face off against Florida Memorial in their first game in 2024 to open up Sun Conference play.

Tonight the Lady Royals start Conference play taking on Florida Memorial for the first game of 2024. The girls 1st Quarter of play made a statement. Florida Memorial could not find a way to stop the Royals offense tonight scoring 21 points in the first Quarter and holding Florida Memorial to only 12 points. Dianis Hurtado came out hot, scoring seven points in the first 10 minutes of play from behind the arc. Jasmine Edward's couldn't be stopped in the paint crashing the boards getting the ball for her team on both sides of the courts. Florida Memorial came out in the 2nd Quarter finding a solution to their first Quarter only allowing Warner two points coming from Courtney Logan. Coming out the house entering the 3rd both teams locked evenly matched both scoring 18 points on both sides of the court with Courtney Logan and Jasmine Edward's with a combined score of 15 points finding an opportunity and capitalizing on their opportunities. With the game close, Dianis Hurtado helped close this game by finding the basket allowing for the team to secure the win scoring 10 points and crashing the boards and earning five boards for the Royals first conference win. The Royals bring home their first win of the New Year and have their first Conference as they head home to face Ave Maria at home.

  • Jasmine Edwards had an amazing night earning herself a double-double tonight leading the Royals with 13 rebounds and earning 15 points for the nights
  • Dianis Hurtado also had a double-double tonight leading the Royals tonight with 17 points and 11 rebounds
  • Courtney Logan continues to lead the Royals on defense, and earned herself five steals and 15 points for the night 
  • Kalyah Watson kept finding her open teammates all night finding them for 4 assists of the night and earning herself 10 points.

The Royals come back home to face off against Ave Maria at home January 10th, at 5:30 PM in hopes to find their second conference win and stay undefeated.
